Developerīookworm is a word game developed by PopCap Games, released in 2003. Finally, special tiles increase your score enormously, so always look for words using these tiles if possible. BookWorm is a hungry little one, though, long words score big. The more yellow dots indicated, the higher score you obtain when using this letter. Feed the BookWorm by linking letters to form words. The scarcity of the letter is indicated on the tile with the yellow dots in the right bottom. In addition, the usage of scarce letters is beneficial for your score. As mentioned before, the longer the words, the higher your score will be. Diamond and Sapphire tiles: These are even more special tiles that can be earned if a word containing 2 or more gold or green tiles is formed.These tiles are even worth more points than the green tiles. Gold tiles: These tiles can be earned if a word of 5 letters or more is created.Green tiles: These are bonus tiles that appear random throughout the game and increase the word score you can achieve.You get fewer red tiles if you create longer words.
Form a word using the burning tiles as soon as possible. Burning tiles: Beware of red burning tiles, if they reach the bottom of the field they will set the library on fire and you lose the game.There are several special tiles that can appear throughout the game. This feature is unfortunately removed from the version we currently have on our website. Forming these bonus words boosted your score. In the original version, bonus words were displayed beneath Lex the bookworm starting from round 2. Don’t find any words in the field? Click on Lex to scramble all the letter tiles and get a new field to work with! Be careful though, this costs points. New letters will be provided so there are always new options to explore. Possibly due to an oversight, the DSiWare version of the original Bookworm remains available in North America as of September 2021. Some online gaming portals like SolitaireParadise claim to offer Bookworm but several others that we checked wouldn’t actually load the game.

Physical versions of all three titles are available for PC while the original Bookworm is available for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. As late as September of 2017 PopCap’s trademark page continued to display all four Bookworm titles and EA’s international trademarks on Bookworm remain active through 2025.

No further explanation has been given on why the games were removed although their delisting from EA’s own Origin and POGO services implies that an expired license of some sort is the cause. In interactions that included Bookworm in interviews and on Twitter they would mention other PopCap franchises by name (Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, etc) while glancing over Bookworm. Once again, PopCap proves that it can create great games regardless of the console, and Bookworm DS is an excellent choice to add to your handheld gaming library.
